Our Backstory
Buk'd and Bougie Book Club began with a simple question: Who do you talk to after finishing a life-changing book? After reading Maya Angelou's autobiographies, our founder, Christie Okposin, realized she had no one to share the experience with. She called her friend, Helen Akanimoh, and together they created a space where book lovers could connect, read, and have meaningful conversations. Launched on November 19, 2021, Buk'd and Bougie has grown into a thriving community built on a shared love for books, with a vision to inspire the next generation of readers.
